All Buttoned Up…

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

I love the affect small details can have on fashion.  I like ruffles, ribbons, and pearls….however, I adore buttons!  Their presence adds a unique and playful element to the unexpected and adds something extra to catch the eye.  I would easily pair one of the blouses below with faded jeans or linen pants to maintain a feminine casual style and those shorts are perfect for a nautical feel.  What other small fashion details do you love?

Chic Wear from J.Crew!

Monday, April 19th, 2010

I love receiving each new season’s catalogue from J.Crew–filled with gorgeous blazers, well-tailored work slacks, and chic dresses!  I also like how they’ve repositioned themselves by featuring their creative and fashion directors, who have pieced together the clothes they sell in many a way–almost like a shop your closet concept.  This is great since it showcases how easily J.Crew can transition into your current wardrobe.  While I love their long-sleeved tops and cashmere cardigans for winter, I’ve fallen in love with their dresses for Spring!  Here are my top picks from this season’s collection that are perfect for work, dinner dates, and my upcoming rehearsal dinner!

Here are a few items from their jewelry collection that caught my eye too!  A girl can never have too many baubles and gems to throw on before she steps out the door!

Sugar and Spice, and All That's Nice!

That’s what beautiful women are made of!  I like to think so at least…well, we can at least dress the part!

Sandy Beach Cover-Ups…

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Mmm…this past weekend marked the beginning of Spring!  It’s officially OK for me to start looking for all my new summer wear!  For the past two years, the fiance has whisked me away to exotic Caribbean locales where I am able to sun myself and dig my cute little pedicured toes into the sand.  Just writing that makes me want to pack a bag and print a boarding pass.  Before every summer vaca, (including fun casual weekends at South Lake Tahoe) I search for the cutest sandals, one or two new swimsuits, and plenty of beach cover-ups.  I love beach cover-ups since I can wear them on the beach and later out to lunch/dinner and still feel chic.  I adore bright colors, cute trimming and details, and the classic slimming black. (Honestly, I don’t know how some women go to the beach and stay thin/toned while they’re there.  I work up such an appetite during the day, that all I want to treat myself to at dinner is a huge plate of fish tacos!)  I also like how beach cover-ups offer plenty of room for dessert too!

Oscar Night's Fashion Winners

Monday, March 8th, 2010

How much fun were the Oscars this year?!  The show was fun, full of surprises, made breezy due to great banter between the two hosts, and even included that random dance routine (which I could have lived without).  The red carpet didn’t disappoint either!  My favorite starlets were out in full fashion force and they ALL looked lovely.

These are my top picks from last night! Jenifer Lopez’s  silk organza gown from Armani Privé’s Spring 2010 collection and Demi Moore’s ruffled silk organza gown from Atelier Versace were just stunning.  Either of these dresses could be transitioned into wedding gowns! And I just adore Vera Farmiga’s ruffled fuchsia gown from Marchesa–she evoked old Hollywood glamor perfectly!  Which dresses were your favorite?

Check out all the great highlights and celebrity post-show plans from the Oscar after-parties!!!  After arriving at the Govenor’s Ball, Sandra Bullock told reporters she just wants ”to eat and not worry that this dress will bust open!”  Don’t you just love her!
