Emmy 2010 Top Trend: Navy

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Jane Krakowski’s one-shouldered frock was stunning and figure flattering. I don’t really adore the clutch she’s carrying, but it ensures the eye is drawn to the Escada silhouette.  This was a perfect choice for the Emmy’s and I appreciate all the detail in the design…exudes regal sexiness.

Lea Michelehas fully embodied old Hollywood glamour.  I cannot stress enough how in love I am with her ensemble!  I love a mermaid silhouette,  anything with ruffles, and the necklace is supreme (very intricate and vintage inspired).  Lea’s nail polish and eyeliner was a rich shade of navy and her tresses were simply tousled which rounded out her complete look.  This Oscar de la Renta gown is my favorite of the entire evening!

Jayma Mays wore a simple yet gorgeously understated gown from Burberry. While I don’t think I would have selected this sleek design for the Emmy’s, I feel this would actually make for a beautiful wedding gown! Imagine it in a soft shade of white with diamond accents sewn throughout the bust and scattered amongst the cascading fabric. This is a beautifully designed gown.

Razzle Dazzle ‘Em On A Budget!

Monday, August 30th, 2010

One of the cutest trends I’ve fallen for this fast approaching fall season is daytime sequins!  I love how there’s no longer an excuse necessary for a little “wardrobe sparkle” during office hours or out unning errands.  Here are some great pieces that won’t deplete my bank account and still look chic.  Adding a lux-looking scarf to a simple ensemble gives just enough trend to those who are not so daring…pairing the loose-fitting tanks under a blazer with black slacks is probably how I’ll be integrating this trend into my closet…and donning a bolder cardigan or skirt just proves you’re confident in what you wear–which is always a good thing!

Last Call on Summer’s Sandals!

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Yes—August is winding down and I’m ready to soak in as much of the final days of summer while I can.  I haven’t even read any of the already arrived September issues from my many magazine subscriptions. (I’m saving these for the last week of August.)  One thing making me a little more content to this fast approaching seasonal change are the amazing online sales of summer fashions!  Just check out these cute sandals from one of my fav shoe spots, Nine West.  There was a store directly across the street from the InStyle offices and on hectic days I would sneak out for some retail therapy…nothing de-stresses me like shopping…well besides a little time in the gym, but isn’t shoe shopping more fun!?

New Seasons, New Patterns

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Ok—it’s the middle of August, which means that it’s almost September, which means that it’s almost fall. As tragic as this is I am looking forward to the new colors, fabrics, and accessories that I’ll be able to wear in the upcoming chilly months. One immediate seasonal change that I can make now is to swap out my flirty summer florals for some playful animal prints! I love adding just an accent of animal print with a bold accessory or comfy flat. Below are just a few of my favs from this season’s plethora of hot items.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name…

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Hey everyone!  I’m back from my week in Manhattan and trying to rest and readjust to this West Coast time.  Isn’t always great to see your fav places, taste your fav menu items, and catch up with your girlfriends—I hadn’t been back to NY for 10 months since moving to the West Coast.  Luckily, I also had a little free time to pop in for a surprise visit to InStyle!  I was described as a “cupcake” to their day and it meant so much that everyone from my old team was excited to see me…I care for all of them so dearly!  Obviously, in true NY fashion, we had to go out for drinks at one of our fav summer watering holes—Rink Bar at Rockefeller Center, but not before I got a sneak peak at the new September 2010 issue!  Wow—the cover girl looks amazingly beautiful and it’s thick with advertisements and that makes me so proud…in the words of my old boss there, “Make that money!”
